IAPD Symposium at the FDI Meeting

There was a high attendance at the IAPD-FDI symposium in Poznan, Poland 7-10 September, 2016. The IAPD’s Secretary General, Dr. Ari Kupietzky presented a session dedicated to Dentistry for the very young child. The symposium was chaired by Dr. Anna Surdacka of Poland and Dr. James Crall, IAPD Finance Committee Chair, of Los Angles, California.

An overview of Early Childhood Caries was presented including etiology, prevalence and consequence of the disease. The concept of the Dental Home was introduced. Age dependent patient management techniques for the young child’s first visit were explained and demonstrated with videos clips. Finally, restorative treatment for ECC was described. Attendees rated the lecture with the highest score!

The IAPD’s booth was attended by the former Association Manager, Ms. Sylvie Dutilloy throughout the meeting. Information about the IAPD membership and upcoming conferences was available to all those that stopped by the booth. Indeed, the Congress sessions were attended by over 3860 delegates from 126 countries and the World Dental Exhibition accompanying the Congress attracted 352 companies. All in all, the Congress closed its doors in Poznań to nearly 12,000 participants!
