16 November 2023 – IAPD Announcement – Humanitarian Crisis in the Middle East
16 November 2023
The IAPD, throughout its 54 years of existence, has contributed to the promotion of oral health for children around the globe and has remained fully committed to educational and scientific cooperation independent of political systems and geographical borders. IAPD continues to be unified by the collective aim to reduce the burden of oral disease in children. In doing so we advocate for holistic well-being of children and their caregivers, irrespective of any political or racial considerations.
The current humanitarian crisis in the Middle East is unacceptable. Children are the most vulnerable and should not have to live in the fear of violence, live through hostage situations or be subjected to war. As oral health professionals we are deeply concerned and care about the well-being of all children in the region.
It is the shared responsibility of the global community to ensure that children receive the highest standard of care, safety, and protection. The IAPD grieves with every country, population, community, and National-Member Society impacted by violence and war. The IAPD encourages the members to support initiatives that promote peace, meet humanitarian needs, and help children affected by this conflict.
We hope for a swift resolution of conflicts and that peace prevails.
In solidarity,
IAPD
