Susan graduated from Edinburgh University and gained her PhD from UCL. She has jointly developed, and is Programme Director of the unique blended learning (online and face-to-face) MSc in Paediatric Dentistry, the only distance learning MSc in Paediatric Dentistry to date. She is deputy programme director of the full-time Doctorate in Paed Dent programme and has extensive experience of teaching. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a member of the Education committees for both IAPD & EAPD. Susan is an educational and clinical supervisor for trainees, a member of the Specialist Advisory Group for Paediatric Dentistry, and the dental advisor for the Medical Advisory Board for patients with Ostoegenesis Imperfecta in the UK. She has lectured nationally and internationally on a variety of topics related to Paediatric Dentistry, including; trauma, pulp therapy, treatment planning, medically compromised children, erosion, child protection/safeguarding and dental anomalies.
