IAPD Symposium at the AAPD Annual Meeting 2024 💫
On Saturday, May 25, 2024, the IAPD Symposium on “Paediatric Dental Care: Behavior Management and Clinical Excellence” captivated attendees at the AAPD Annual Meeting in Toronto, Canada. The session boasted excellent attendance and left participants inspired and informed.
Dr. Soni Stephen and Dr. Tetiana Peshko delivered dynamic presentations, offering an international perspective on managing paediatric dental patients and addressing the evolving expectations of modern parents.
This symposium, a proud collaboration between the IAPD and AAPD, highlighted our shared commitment to advancing paediatric dental care through global partnerships and the exchange of knowledge.
IAPD Strategic Planning Meeting in Toronto
The IAPD Executive Committee gathered in Toronto for a 2-day strategic planning meeting, laying the groundwork for future initiatives and developments within the association. This meeting reinforced the IAPD’s steadfast commitment to shaping its future.
Leaders from the IAPD and AAPD took advantage of the opportunity to meet and engage in a productive one-hour discussion. They focused on exploring potential collaborations and innovative partnerships aimed at enhancing global outreach, advancing educational programs, and strengthening support for paediatric dental professionals worldwide.

The IAPD is thrilled to celebrate the achievements of our fellows who successfully completed their examinations in 2023. Their dedication and commitment to continuing education have truly paid off! From June onward we will be highlighting five IAPD Fellows per month!

🌐Spotlight on IAPD Consensus Recommendations
This month, we’re shining a spotlight on the Consensus Recommendation on Caries Risk Assessment and Care Pathways. The primary aim of caries risk assessment is to provide preventive and restorative dental care tailored to the specific needs of each patient. Dental caries care pathways are designed based on an understanding of risk factors as they apply to individual children. For children at high risk of caries, intensive preventive measures are crucial to prevent the onset of caries and to halt their progression. Conversely, advanced preventive therapies are deemed to have minimal benefit for children who are at low risk of dental caries.
By focusing on these recommendations and understanding the critical and additional risk factors for dental caries, dental professionals can provide more effective and personalised care. This tailored approach not only enhances the immediate dental health of children but also promotes long-term oral health and wellbeing.
