🌐Spotlight on IAPD Consensus Recommendations
This month, we’re shining a spotlight on the Consensus Recommendation on Children with Special Health Care Needs.
Caring for children with special health care needs (SHCN) is a fundamental aspect of paediatric dentistry. SHCN refers to children who have one or more chronic physical, developmental, behavioural, or emotional conditions and require additional health and related services beyond those typically needed by children. A strong partnership between the pediatric dental home and the child’s medical home is vital to improve both oral and overall health outcomes for children with SHCN.
These consensus-based recommendations, endorsed by global agreement, aim to guide practitioners in delivering equitable, compassionate, and effective care to children with SHCN.
