Marietjie Weakley (South Africa) – REPRESENTATIVE FOR NATIONAL SOCIETIES – 4

Dr Marietjie Weakley qualified in Dentistry at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, in 1989 and has been in private practice ever since.

Her vision is to make a difference in the lives of her patients, colleagues and dentistry in South Africa, Africa and the World. Paediatric Dentistry is her field of Specialty and her passion!

Dr Weakley is the Immediate President and International Liaison of the Paedodontic Society of South Africa, Past-President of the Gauteng South Branch- and National Council Member of the South African Dental Association (SADA).

She is co-founder and CEO of the Augustine Group, a new Oral Health Company that aims to become the largest Oral Health Provider in private practices in South Africa.

She is currently is actively involved in the process of promoting Oral Health to African governments. This supports her dream to make the African continent heard as part of “The Global Voice for Children’s Oral Health”.  She is, in cooperation with the Dental Schools, assisting in the process of getting Paediatric Dentistry recognised as a Specialty in South Africa.

Dr Weakley facilitated the winning Bid for South Africa, to host the IAPD International Congress in Cape Town for 2023.

This lead up to organising the first African Tri-Regional Meeting in March 2018 in Johannesburg the theme being: “A New Smile for Africa”. The 2nd Tri-Regional Meeting Kenya Paedodontic Society took place in January 2019 in Nairobi.

Dr Weakley founded the Outreach Project of the Paedodontic Society of South Africa and she is involved in various other local community projects.

Dentistry is not a job to her – it is her passion.
