Dental erosion is defined as the irreversible loss of tooth structure due to chemical dissolution by acids not of bacterial origin. The acid source can be intrinsic (e.g. gastric acid) or extrinsic (e.g. dietary acids). The primary dentition is more susceptible to erosion compared to the permanent dentition due to its thinner and less mineralized enamel.
We are highlighting the IAPD Consensus Document on the Management of Dental Erosion.

Milestones and Memories: IAPD's Presentation at SIOI's National Event in December 2023
Prof. Seymen delivered an IAPD presentation during a special welcome address at the national event of the Italian Society of Paediatric Dentistry (SIOI) on 1 December 2023, providing insights into the IAPD’s latest activities. An interesting note: IAPD was officially founded in Italy in 1969 as the “International Association of Dentistry for Children”, starting with 11 national societies and 270 paediatric dentists as supporting members. Since then, IAPD has grown significantly, now boasting 80 National-Member Societies representing over 30,000 dentists worldwide. Our sincere appreciation to Domenico Tripodi (President of SIOI) and Gianmaria Fabrizio Ferrazzano (Past President of SIOI) for hosting the IAPD President so graciously in Italy.

Announcement to Membership: Change in the IAPD Board of Directors
Dr. Ari Kupietzky has indicated to the IAPD Board of Directors that he no longer wishes to serve as Secretary-General of IAPD, and wishes to step down from this position. The IAPD Board accepts his request. We thank Dr. Kupietzky for all his contributions to the IAPD over many years, we are grateful for his always hard and dedicated work and wish him all the best for the future.
The Board of directors convened according to the bylaws Article VI.13:
“If a vacancy or vacancies occur with the term of Board members, the Board of Directors shall decide on issues related to the management of the duties and privileges associated with the vacancy of the position.”
The Board unanimously decided to appoint Dr. Anna Maria Vierrou as Interim Secretary General, since she has extensive experience in managing IAPD affairs.
We are happy to welcome Dr. Vierrou, the first woman to occupy this position, and we look forward to a fruitful term of the current Board.
