The 4th IAPD Global Summit, “Early Orthodontics Anchored in Evidence: An Integration Between Paediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics,” brings two closely connected disciplines into the same conversation.
Across three focused days, internationally recognised experts in paediatric dentistry and orthodontics will examine some of the questions clinicians face most often.
The programme moves from the biological foundations of craniofacial growth through the management of sagittal, transverse and vertical malocclusions, while also exploring dental trauma, space management, myofunctional therapy, frenectomies, appliances, emerging technologies and the future of interceptive orthodontics.
Barcelona offers the perfect backdrop for three days of learning and connection: a city where extraordinary architecture sits alongside Mediterranean life and where centuries of history meet contemporary design.
There is something particularly fitting about bringing a meeting devoted to growth, integration and new ways of thinking to a city famous for seeing familiar things differently.

This month, we’re shining a spotlight on the Consensus Recommendation on the Management of Dental Erosion.
Dental erosion is the irreversible loss of tooth structure caused by acids that are not produced by bacteria. In children, recognising the source of these acids can be an important part of both diagnosis and prevention.
Acids may be intrinsic, such as gastric acid associated with gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or vomiting, or extrinsic, most commonly from acidic foods and drinks.
Primary teeth are particularly vulnerable because their enamel is thinner and less mineralised than that of permanent teeth.

The IAPD Symposium presenters: Dr. Jana Vašáková, Prof. Figen Seymen and Dr. Arina Vinereanu
IAPD was proud to host a successful dedicated symposium at the FDI World Dental Congress 2026 in Prague, bringing paediatric dentistry firmly into the programme of one of the world’s major dental gatherings.
Held on 4 September, the symposium was moderated by Prof. Dr Figen Seymen, IAPD Immediate Past President, who opened the session with an introduction to IAPD’s expanding global educational activities — from its Consensus Recommendations and Foundational Articles to webinars, the Video Lecture Centre, Fellowship and Fluoriders initiatives.
The scientific programme brought together three complementary and highly practical perspectives. Prof. Seymen explored Minimal Intervention in Paediatric Dentistry, highlighting the shift towards evidence-based, preventive and patient-centred care. Dr Arina Vinereanu examined Pain Management in Paediatric Dentistry, including its important long-term influence on children’s dental experiences, while Dr Jana Vašáková, representing the host country, shared clinical insights into the use of Prefabricated Crowns in Paediatric Dentistry.
The symposium provided an excellent opportunity to share IAPD expertise with the wider international dental community and to reinforce our commitment to accessible, evidence-based education that improves oral health care for children worldwide.
Our sincere thanks to FDI and the Czech Dental Chamber for welcoming IAPD to Prague and supporting this valuable opportunity for international knowledge exchange.
IAPD Immediate Past President Prof. Dr Figen Seymen represented paediatric dentistry at the 6th Eastern Pediatric Congress in Diyarbakır, Türkiye, bringing an important oral-health perspective to an audience of paediatricians, family physicians and public-health specialists.
Speaking during the Joint Session on Family Medicine and Pediatric Dentistry, Prof. Seymen presented “Preventive Oral and Dental Health in Children: A Multidisciplinary Approach.”
Her presentation highlighted a simple but important message: children’s oral health cannot be separated from their overall health. Prevention and early intervention are most effective when paediatric dentists, paediatricians, family physicians and public-health professionals work together.
Drawing attention to the IAPD Bangkok Declaration and evidence-based caries-management approaches, Prof. Seymen emphasised the value of integrating oral-health promotion and prevention into routine child healthcare.
The session provided an important opportunity to strengthen the conversation between disciplines and reinforce a shared goal: healthier children through earlier, more connected care.
